NetApp® Filers KM for PATROL®

NetApp® Filers KM for PATROL® is a native module for BMC PATROL that monitors all of the performance metrics and usage statistics of your NetApp® filers, such as filesystems usage, snapshots, processor utilization, per protocol traffic, etc. It continuously monitors the activity of each filer and is also able to build reports on past utilization statistics.


How It Works

NetApp® Filers KM for PATROL® works in conjunction with Hardware Sentry KM for PATROL®. Hardware Sentry KM discovers and monitors all the hardware aspects of the NetApp® disk array: disks, RAIDs, controllers, temperature sensors, fans, power supplies, Ethernet cards, fiber ports, etc.

NetApp® Filers KM discovers and monitors all the software aspects of the filer: shares, filesystems, quotas, protocols, etc.
Both Hardware Sentry KM and NetApp® Filers KM use the SNMP protocol to communicate with the controllers of the NetApp® filer.

Licensing
To monitor a NetApp® filer, you need to acquire a license "Sentry Software Monitoring for BMC Performance Manager – Storage Monitoring" from BMC Software. The "Storage Monitoring" license gives you the right to use both "Hardware Sentry KM for PATROL®" and "NetApp® Filers KM for PATROL®" to monitor one NetApp® filer.
