MS_HW_CPU

Home  Previous  Next

Each instance of the MS_HW_CPU class represents a physical processor of the server. On highest-range servers, the Status parameter will raise an alert "on the fly" as soon as a processor fails. On most servers however, a failed processor causes a server crash. Upon reboot, the processor is likely to be automatically disabled by the BIOS which will then raise an alert in Hardware Sentry because the processor is "missing".

The CorrectedErrorCount and PredictedFailure parameters (available only for a few high-end processors) will help administrators intervene even before such a crash occurs.

PredictedFailure

This parameter will trigger a warning if a CPU failure is predicted to happen.

Value set by cpuColl every 2 minutes.

0 = OK

1 = A CPU failure is predicted.

Status

CPU Status.

Value set by cpuColl every 2 minutes.

0 = OK

1 = Degraded
