Menu Commands

Function

Description

KM Settings

Displays all the command options for different monitoring settings

KM Settings > Alert Actions

Enables you to select the Alert Actions (different methods of notification) to be executed by Hardware Sentry when a parameter breaches its threshold

KM Settings > Missing Device Detection

Enables/Disables missing device detection. By default, Hardware Sentry detects "missing devices" i.e. devices previously monitored but which have disappeared during the monitoring or after a reboot or due to some other cause

KM Settings > Intrusion Detection Alerts

Allows you to decide when an intrusion detection alert for the enclosure/ systems chassis should be raised. The IntrusionStatus parameter of each enclosure object discovered by Hardware Sentry reports whether or not the chassis has been opened, and triggers an alarm as per user settings.

KM Settings > Automatic ErrorCount Reset

Enables you to schedule the automatic reset of the ErrorCount parameter of a specific device.

KM Settings > Discovery Interval

Enables you to customize the discovery cycle. By default, discovery is performed every hour

KM Settings > Polling Interval

Enables you to customize the polling cycle. By default, the polling interval is done every 2 minutes

KM Settings > Java Settings

Enables you to define which Java instance is to be used by Hardware Sentry

KM Settings > Debug

Activates or deactivates the debug mode. The debug Mode displays debug messages in the PATROL System Output Window or saves it in a file if you enter the file path.

KM Settings > Additional Settings

Enables you to perform additional settings such as restoring device monitoring, displaying settings for UNIX Console and enabling/disabling debug mode.

KM Settings > Additional Settings > Threshold Mechanism Selection

Allows you to select the threshold mechanism:

Automatic (by default): Hardware Sentry determines the mode of threshold management best suited to the system. The different modes are:

Tuning: Hardware Sentry uses the internal PATROL mechanism to set thresholds

PCM/Event Management: Hardware Sentry automatically sets thresholds through PCM/Event Management

No thresholds: Hardware Sentry does not set any thresholds and lets you specify them manually.

KM Settings > Additional Settings > Unknown Status Management

Enables you to set actions to be performed when Hardware Sentry is unable to detect the status of a monitored device.

KM Settings > Additional Settings > Restore Device or Sensor Monitoring

Brings up the "Restore Device or Sensor Monitoring" wizard to restore one or several objects after their monitoring has been stopped

KM Settings > Additional Settings
> Display Settings for Unix Consoles

Gives you the option to turn on the UNIX console mode and modify all object labels to fit the PATROL UNIX Console label size.

KM Settings > Additional Settings > Internal KM Issues Notification

Allows you to enable/disable and select the type of information messages displayed by Hardware Sentry in the system output window of the PATROL Console.
