By default, the discovery is performed once an hour. You can customize the discovery interval by right-clicking the main Hardware icon > KM Commands > KM Settings > Discovery interval….
The discovery process is launched just after the end of the detection process. It takes the following actions:
| • | Processes the "Enclosure.Discovery" section of the detected connectors (".hdf") that describes the computer model and creates the main Hardware Sentry and computer icon (class: MS_HW_DISKENCLOSURE). Most of other icons (disk controllers, fans, temperatures, etc.) are created under this computer icon. |
| • | Launches the disk controller discovery that will process the "DiskController.Discovery" section of each detected ".hdf" file and create the MS_HW_DISKCONTROLLER icons. |
| • | Launches the other discoveries (fans, temperatures, voltages, power supplies, logical disks, physical disks and other devices) that will process the corresponding sections of each detected ".hdf" file and create corresponding icons. |
 | With a view to optimization, the discovery process is as parallelized as possible. All the independent objects are processed at the same time. |
The Discovery process runs automatically every hour by default. This enables discovering and monitoring any new objects added or removed.
You can also force a discovery manually by right-clicking the Hardware icon > KM Commands > Trigger a KM Discovery.
