Monitoring a Clustered NetApp Filer |
|
|
When the controllers of the NetApp Filer are configured to work in cluster mode, each controller is still monitored separately as an independent filer. The monitoring of such configuration therefore looks like the monitoring of two independent filers. Use the Add NetApp Filer KM command for each of the two controllers. To add a NetApp Filer to the PATROL console: 1.Right-click the NetApp Filer main icon > KM Commands > Add a NetApp Filer:
Accessing the Add a NetApp Filer KM Command 2.Enter the Host name or IP address. Press Next to continue.
NetApp Server Configuration – System Identification 3.Enter the name of the SNMP community you wish to use. Press Finish to validate.
NetApp Server Configuration – SNMP Settings A new icon representing the NetApp Filer is automatically added to the PATROL console underneath the NetApp Filers KM for PATROL main icon. The component is then ready to be monitored. On each controller, the cluster class monitors the status of the cluster as a whole and the status of the other controller. When a controller takes over the other one (because of a failure or an operator initiated command) the PartnerStatus parameter triggers an alarm. Check the Summary parameter to learn more about the situation which may require an administrator action.
