BMC Performance Manager is available with an impressive catalog of modules for the monitoring of a wide range of popular technologies: Linux, Windows, UNIX, Oracle Database Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Apache, JBoss, IBM WebSphere, etc. These modules are specific to a given technology.
BMC Performance Manager Monitoring Studio by Sentry Software is a nonspecific module. Monitoring Studio is a kind of toolkit for IT professionals that allows you to setup the monitoring of almost anything you want through an easy-to-use graphical user interface. Once set up, this monitoring is available through the entire BMC Performance Manager framework (consoles, event management, reporting, impact management, service level management, etc.).
BMC Performance Manager Monitoring Studio provides a wide range of configurable monitoring tools to extract information from various sources and to bring this information into BMC Performance Manager:

In the following examples, we will be using Monitoring Studio to launch a Web request (to the Yahoo! Weather Web page, for example) and extract the information we are interested in.
BMC Performance Manager Monitoring Studio by Sentry Software is the solution for BMC Performance Manager to setup the monitoring of anything for which there is no monitoring solution currently available. Monitoring Studio is only available for BMC Performance Manager as a Knowledge Module for PATROL.
