Manually Upgrading BMC Performance Manager Express for SharePoint

Sometimes, the automated upgrading process of BMC Performance Manager Express for SharePoint fails. When this problem occurs you have to manually upgrade the Performance Manager by executing the three steps detailed below:

A. Remove the Obsolete SharePoint PAR file and Application Class

1.Log on to the Portal with your user credentials
2.Click the Configure tab.
3.In the navigation pane, expand the Properties object tree to show the name of the infrastructure element.
4.Click the element name to open the Properties page for the infrastructure element.
5.The application classes being monitored on the selected element are displayed in the Application Classes section of the page.
6.Select the SharePoint application class and click Delete.
7.Log off the Portal
8.Log on to the Portal with the ‘superadmin’ credentials
9.Under Tasks, click Performance Managers to open the Performance Managers page.
10.Select the installed SharePoint PAR file
11.Click Delete to remove the .par file from the Portal
A.Stop/Restart the RSM
1.Stop the RSM
2.Delete the sharepoint par file from the folder: \BMCSoftware\Remote Service Monitor\RSM28\server\rsm\solutions
3.Start the RSM

C. Install the New SharePoint PAR file and Application Class

1.Log on to the Portal with the ‘superadmin’ credentials
2.Under Tasks, click Performance Managers to open the Performance Managers page.
3.Click Upload to open the Performance Managers–Upload page.
4.Perform one of the following actions to specify the PAR file to import:
a.In the text box, type the full path and the name of the PAR file. You must be able to access the file on your local file system.
b.Click Browse to open a file selection dialog box and select SharePoint PAR file.
5.Click Upload.
6.Log off the Portal and log on again with your user credentials
7.Click the Configure tab.
8.In the navigation pane, expand the Properties object tree to show the name of the infrastructure element.
9.Click the element name to open the Properties page for the infrastructure element.
10.Click Add to open the Properties–Add Application Classes page.
11.Select the Category that contains the SharePoint application class
12.Select the SharePoint application class and continue the configuration procedure. At the final step click Finish to save your settings and return to the Properties—Element page.

noteIf you are working with a clustered RSM, all the RSMs must be stopped, and all the SharePoint PAR files must be removed from each RMS in the cluster.
