Install the Component

This chapter explains the procedure to follow for installing, uninstalling and upgrading the Hardware Sentry TSPS Component. It also lists the prerequisites and packages required to operate Hardware Sentry within the TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) environment.

Install, Upgrade or Uninstall the TSPS Component

Before installing the TSPS Component, make sure that the following requirements are met.

  • Version 11.0 or higher of TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) and TrueSight Infrastructure Management (TSIM).
  • PATROL Agents running Hardware Sentry KM must be connected to TrueSight Infrastructure Management.
  • The TrueSight Infrastructure Management components must be correctly configured and running in TrueSight Presentation Server to ensure that hardware devices are fully discovered.

Once all the required steps are completed, you can proceed with the installation.

Installation and Upgrade

Warning: If you have already installed a previous version of the Hardware Sentry TSPS Component to benefit from the Web interface capabilities of TSPS with Monitoring Studio, you must uninstall it and reinstall the current version. We strongly recommend to contact support for assistance.

The installation of the TSPS Component is performed on TSPS. You need to copy the installation file in a temporary location on the TSPS server itself (/tmp as in the example below):

Open a shell as the tsps user on the TSPS server, and execute the below command in the /opt/bmc/TrueSightPServer/truesightpserver/bin directory:

$ ./tssh componenttype add /tmp/

If you are updating the TSPS Component (i.e. it has already been installed on this TSPS server), you need to use the following command:

$ ./tssh componenttype update /tmp/

Normally, TSPS will be restarted:

Remove and Uninstall the TSPS Component

There is no true removal procedure for a Component Type. However, you can unload all UI elements of Hardware Sentry by deleting the corresponding instance of Hardware Sentry.

Connect to the TrueSight Presentation Server interface as a Solution Administrator (typically, the admin account). Navigate to Administration > Components and Delete the Hardware Sentry Component Type.

You will need to refresh the page in your browser for the Hardware Sentry UI elements to be unloaded from the TrueSight Presentation Server interface.

Configure the TSPS Component

The TSPS Component is configured at the TSPS level and must be configured only once. Multiple instances of the TSPS Component in the same TSPS server will cause errors. The TSPS Component works with the TSIM component and extends the capabilities of TrueSight Presentation Server itself with additional features.

  1. Connect to the TrueSight Presentation Server interface as a Solution Administrator (typically, with the admin account). Navigate to Administration > Components and add a new Component.

    Adding the TSPS Component to TrueSight Presentation Server

  2. Select Hardware Sentry the list of Component Types and provide the following information:

    Property Description
    Host Name (FQDN Format) Enter an FQDN host name. Note that the host name does not impact the Hardware Sentry component behavior.
    Port Accept the default port number (443).
    Protocol Accept the default HTTPS protocol.
    Tenant Keep the selection to * (Mandatory).
  3. Refresh the page in your browser for the Hardware Sentry and Green IT menus to be loaded in the TrueSight Presentation Server interface.

Once the TSPS Component is correctly installed and configured, you need to deploy Hardware Sentry.
