Should you install this patch?

Install this patch if you are monitoring a server running version 7.80 or earlier of the HP Insight Manager Agent and do not wish to update the HP agent.

What does it fix?

Pre-7.90 versions of HP Insight Manager do not have the power consumption SNMP table. The following message would thus appear in the SOW when the KM tries to query the server's power consumption:

Hardware Sentry [ERROR]: An error occurred while executing the following SNMPGet on localhost: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.2.15.3.0

Note: This patch will remove the error message. To get power consumption information (on servers with power consumption sensors) you will need to update to a newer version of the HP Agent.

This patch is safe to install on all HP servers. Servers with newer versions of the HP agent will continue to collect power consumption information.

How to install the patch?

Copy the following files to the $PATROL_HOME/lib/MS_HW_HDF or %PATROL_HOME%\lib\MS_HW_HDF directory on the managed server:

  • MS_HW_CpMgServNT.hdf
Re-initialize Hardware Sentry for the patch to take effect. Nothing needs to be installed on Console systems.
