Connector for EMC Isilon

Should you install this patch?

Install this patch to prevent temporary files from filling up the /var/crash folder.

What does it fix?

The connector runs the isi_hw_check command every hour. This creates timestamped log files in /var/crash which can cause the filesystem to fill up over time. The patched connector will now send log files to /tmp/MS_HW_isi_hw_check without a timestamp.

How to install the patch?

  1. Copy the following file to the %PATROL_HOME%\lib\MS_HW_hdf or $PATROL_HOME/lib/MS_HW_hdf directory on the server where the PATROL Agent runs:
    • MS_HW_EMCIsilon.hdf
  2. Re-initialize Hardware Sentry.
  3. Nothing needs to be installed on Console systems.
NOTE: The sudoers need to be changed after installing this patch. Run the isi_visudo command to edit the sudoers file. Add the following lines:

Pre-patch sudoers:
patrol ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:/usr/bin/isi_for_array /usr/bin/isi status -w,/usr/bin/isi_for_array /usr/bin/isi_hwtools/isi_hw_check,/usr/bin/isi status -w,/usr/bin/isi_for_array /usr/bin/isi devices,/usr/bin/isi_for_array /usr/bin/isi_hwtools/isi_hw_status,/usr/bin/isi_for_array /usr/bin/isi batterystatus,/usr/bin/isi networks list interfaces --verbose --wide --show-inactive,/usr/bin/isi storagepool health --verbose,/usr/bin/isi storagepool list --verbose --no-header --format csv
