This document describes changes and updates that have occurred since the release NetApp KM for PATROL v1.6.00.

What's New

Coverage

NetApp Filers KM for PATROL 1.6.02 has been enhanced to fully support the monitoring of the CIFS protocol (Common Internet File System). This protocol is the most commonly used by NetApp Filers for sharing files with Windows clients.

The following Applications Classes were added to the KM to report performance data on the CIFS protocol:

Parameters

SEN_NA_CIFS_OPERATIONS

OperationRate: number of CIFS operations done by the filer
CallRate: total number of CIFS calls received.
BadCallRate: total number of received CIFS calls rejected
GetAttributeOperationRate: total number of CIFS operations to get the attributes on a file or directory
ReadOperationRate: total number of CIFS Read operations on file or directory
WriteOperationRate: number of CIFS file locking requests
FileOpenCallRate: number of calls, via CIFS, to open a file or directory
FileLockingRequestRate: number of CIFS file locking requests
DiectoryOperationRate: number of CIFS directory operations
OtherOperationRate: number of CIFS operations that do not fall into the categories for Get Attributes, Read, Write, Lock, Directory Open and Open
SuspectOperationPercent: smoothed average of the number of events per second of the type frequently seen during virus attacks

SEN_NA_CIFS_UTILIZATIONS

ConnectedUsers: current number of CIFS users on the filer
Trees: current number of CIFS trees on the filer
Sessions: current number of active CIFS sessions on the filer
OpenFiles: current number of open CIFS files and directories on the filer
OpenDirectories: current number of open CIFS directories on the filer
OplockBreakWaitingFiles: number of open files waiting for oplock break messages to be sent
OplockAckWaitingFiles: number of open files waiting for acknowledgements to oplock break messages
ConnectedUsersPercenMax:  current number of CIFS connected users in percentage of the maximum allowed.
TreesPercentMax: current number of CIFS trees users in percentage of the maximum allowed
SharesPercentMax: current number of CIFS shares in percentage of the maximum allowed
OpenFilesPercentMax: current number of open CIFS files and directories in percentage of the maximum allowed

Fixed Issues

The KM command <Remove> did not always properly remove the selected object
When switching from one thresholds management mode to another in the Threshold Mechanism box, existing thresholds were not migrated from one mode to another
The discovery could not always complete its process. Consequently, some components (ex: NFS Cache, vFiler) were not always associated to their related filers
The polling interval was not reset to its default value when re-initializing the product
