What's New

Hitachi Device Manager v.8 is now supported. Please note that the monitoring history will be lost when upgrading to version 8.
The KM now supports unlimited debug file size. In previous versions, the debug file size was limited to 500 MB.
Volumes Monitoring: it is now possible to disable the monitoring of all the volumes of a system to limit the number of instances created and therefore reduce the system resource consumption.
Two new application classes were added to Hitachi Disk Arrays KM for PATROL: SEN_HDS_CONTROLLER_CONT and SEN_HDS_SMISPROVIDER_MANAGEDARRAY.
The former SEN_HDS_STORAGEPOOL application class was split into two new application classes: SEN_HDS_STORAGEPOOL_TRAD and SEN_HDS_STORAGEPOOL_THIN to distinguish traditional storage pools from thin storage pools.
New parameters added to the SEN_HDS_ARRAY application class:
oPortCount parameter: to report on the number of ports available on the disk array.
oFQDN infobox: to provide the fully qualified domain name of the storage system, as exposed to BPPM.
New parameters added to the SEN_HDS_MAIN and SEN_HDS_SMISPROVIDER application classes:
oCollectionStatus: to indicate the status of the collection.
oCollectionStatusInformation: to report on the errors encountered by Hitachi Disk Arrays KM and provide detailed information about the collection status.
New KM commands added to the SEN_HDS_SMISPROVIDER application class:
oEdit Connection Settings: to modify the connection settings.
oDiscovery Interval: to customize the discovery cycle.
oPolling Interval: to customize the polling cycle.
oDisable Volumes Monitoring: to disable/enable the monitoring of volumes.
New InfoBoxes added to the SEN_HDS_VOLUME application class:
oAssociated Controllers: Controllers used to access the volume.
oAssociated Ports: List of controller ports associated to the volume.
oCurrent Controller: Controller currently associated to the volume.
oHost Groups: Logical entities that define the hosts and their associated volumes as well as the fiber ports from which the volumes can be accessed.

Changes and Enhancements

KM Reinitialization: A backup of the PATROL Agent configuration is now performed and saved in the $PATROL_HOME/config directory before the KM is reinitialized.
Hitachi Disk Arrays KM for PATROL collects data even though the statistics logging is not activated.
Search WWN/IQN KM Command: The KM Command has been renamed and now enables Administrators to search for both WWN and IQN addresses.
New computation for capacity parameters:
othe AvailableCapacity parameter now considers the space available for the Storage Pool creation.
othe SubscribedCapacity parameter of the Disk Array application class now only considers the volumes exposed to hosts.
In order to report more accurately on the actual available capacity of a disk array, the calculation method used to determine the Available Capacity parameter of the Hitachi Disk Array class has been modified. The AvailableCapacity parameter now reflects the capacity available in storage pools plus the total space available for storage pool creation.
The format of the PATROL internal Identifier has been changed to be more meaningful. The PATROL ID InfoBox now follows the following format: <parentID>_<childID>.
(e.g. pc-hds_VSP85678_004004 where pc-hds is the Hitachi Device Manager ID, VSP85678 the Disk Array ID and 004004 the Volume ID).
A message will be displayed in the LUNs Owning Controller Table when there is no information available for VSP disk arrays.
