Should you install this patch?

Apply this patch in case of a thread and handle leak in the VDS.EXE process, which can cause the corresponding service to crash.

What does it fix?

A bug in DISKPART.EXE leaves open threads in VDS.EXE when commands are piped in the command line. The ECHO LIST VOLUME|DISKPART was replaced to make sure the EXIT command is executed and the thread terminated.

How to install the patch?

  1. Copy the following file to the $PATROL_HOME/lib/MS_HW_hdf directory on the server where the PATROL Agent runs:
    • MS_HW_DiskPart.hdf
  2. Re-initialize Hardware Sentry for the patch to take effect. Nothing needs to be installed on Console systems.
