Connector for monitoring Sun SPARC servers using the PrtPicl Connector.

Should you install this patch?

Install this patch if you wish to have more descriptive sensor identifiers in PATROL / BPPM or if no thresholds appear for fan sensors.

What does it fix?

  • A smaller version of the device ID is now used for the display ID to enable easier sensor identification.
  • No thresholds appeared for fan sensors when LowWarningThreshold did not exist for fan instances. LowPowerOffThreshold will now be used whenever this situation occurs.

How to install the patch?

  1. Copy the following file to the $PATROL_HOME/lib/MS_HW_hdf directory on the server where the PATROL Agent runs:
    • MS_HW_SunPrtpicl.hdf
  2. Re-initialize Hardware Sentry for the patch to take effect. Nothing needs to be installed on Console systems.
