Upgrade From Previous Versions

After upgrading Hardware Sentry, the monitoring solution must be reinitialized. Hardware Sentry will then run a full discovery, preselect the appropriate connectors, and restart the monitoring of existing and new devices.

To reinitialize the monitoring solution (policy)

  1. Log on to the TrueSight Console.

  2. Click the Configuration Variables tab.

  3. Click Add Configuration Variable to set the required configuration variable. The Add Configuration Variable pane is displayed.

Upgrading from Previous Versions - Adding Configuration Variable

  4. Provide the following information:

    • Variable: type /SENTRY/HARDWARE/automaticReinitialization
    • Operation: select REPLACE from the drop-down list
    • Value: type 1
  5. Click OK.

A reinitialization of Hardware Sentry is performed. The discovery checks the automaticReinitialization variable every minute and deletes it in the PATROL agent configuration before performing the re-initialization.

To prevent further unexpected reinitializations, it is recommended to later remove the automaticReinitialization variable from the policy.

To reinitialize the monitoring solution (Agent Query)

  1. In the navigation pane of the TrueSight console, click Configuration and select Managed Devices.

  2. Click a PATROL Agent menu inline and select Query PATROL Agent. The Agent Query Tool opens in a new browser window.

  3. In the Command box, specify the query and click Execute.

  4. Enter the following PSL command:

    requires MS_HW_q; reinitialize(1);

To reinitialize the monitoring solution (Monitoring Studio)

  1. In the navigation pane of the TrueSight console, click Configuration and select Managed Devices.

  2. Click a PATROL Agent menu inline and select Query PATROL Agent/Monitoring Studio X. You will be automatically redirected to the Monitoring Studio X console.
